We are seeking an experienced Door Opening Specialist to join our Technical Design Services group in the Dallas office (not remote). The successful candidate will work closely with Project Managers, Project Architects, Technical Staff, Specifiers, and Senior Specialist, Doors + Hardware on a wide variety of projects in all Corgan market sectors. The Door Opening Specialist will be involved in projects through the entire building design process, from Schematic Design through Construction Contract Administration (CCA).  

Responsibilities

 

  • Quality Assurance/Quality Control position.
  • Meet with design team to recommend door & hardware systems that meet the client’s needs for security, function, aesthetics, and cost, while complying with the most current regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure drawings and specifications conform to Owner’s hardware standards.
  • Assist with review of hardware specifications, hardware sets, and hardware schedules for projects.
  • Assist with review of door and hardware submittals prepared by others for compliance with contract documents and project requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time with accuracy and high attention to detail.
  • Mentor, provide education, and train architectural and interiors technical staff regarding opening design.

 

Qualifications

  • 20+ years of distribution experience with commercial openings products & systems.
  • 10+ years of customer/client interaction experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam. AutoCAD and REVIT a plus.
  • Familiarity with major industry manufactures of doors, frames, hardware, access control systems and their various performance characteristics and appropriate applications.
  • Familiarity with preparing, reviewing and finalizing door schedules, hardware sets, and hardware schedules.
  • Familiarity with industry door and hardware finishes, DHI standards, and access controls.
  • Knowledge of national, state, and local building codes as well as technical familiarity with hardware manufacturers’ most current products
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

 

Certifications 

  • CSI CDT Certified Document Technologist preferred.
  • DHI DHIA Door + Hardware Industry Associate preferred.
